Happy Holidays

From South Dakota, where a spectacular snowfall yesterday has left the prairie perfect for a frosty holiday season. Damn if it's not cold, but damn if it's not also incredibly wild and stunning and worth the miserable trip it takes to get all the way out here. Yesterday I saw two bald eagles, at least 100 wild turkeys, and dozens of deer - all on a short walk.

Nine people out of ten may call South Dakota a fly-over state. But I promise you it's not a place to overlook, and I don't plan to on the campaign, either.

Holiday well, team.

So by that rational, since Wirsing IS America...

Is Wirsing the America of 2007, or America 2032?

From my limited Wirsing experience, I would say we are the advocates (champions?) readying America to be able to elect such an enlightened leader as Wirsing will be in 2032.

If so, we have much work to do. For my part, I require the assistance of one Mahmud Penjwini and one Nilanka Seneviratne (both may be readily googled). I have not begun to court their assistance in part because it is not my place to judge the timing for sustainable expansion of this campaign. Are we last minute or long term? Jesse Ventura or Churchill? Are we above such a false dichotomy? I hope so...

Yes, I am asking for guidance, but dare I beg for a vision of America that kould, no, will elect Wirsing in 2032?

Like a grain of impertinent sand in this fledgling oyster, I agitate.

Only people who don't have momentum, Hal, fear it. Last minute, long term, it's all the same to me. I'll take momentum now, I'll take it next week, I'll next it next year, and I'll take that wonderful stuff all the way to 2032. Recruit, advertise, court, do your worst (I especially like the two you mention; we could heartily use them both)!

But you do bring up a relevant, indeed vexing question. We surely do have our work cut out to get America ready to elect one such as myself in a couple decades. At the same time, if I am to be America in 2032, then I must be America now. Just a slightly adolescent, pipple-faced version of the country we aspire to be. A golf ball in the rough, you could say.

Yet find me now, America. Don't wait. Find me here, young and exuberant, hungry for tacos and the great blue yonder. I'll be on a ballot before you know it.

I'm trying, Eve, but the badger in my sock drawer is getting restless.

Thanks for the picture of your ice skating rink in south dakota. And especially thanks for the 20 cents you sent me. I guess that put you out 59 cents. Was it worth every penny?

But of course. Except I thought I put three dimes in there? It was easily worth 69 cents.

Thanks for visiting us in South Dakota, Karl; it's just too bad not everyone was around that weekend! It's always great to see you and you know if Jeff and I are still kicking in 2032, we'll be your staunchest supporters. And if I win the lottery, I hereby pledge to help you monetarily.
